More IF help

This I know is simple, but I am more simple. :^ )

I have a cell that I want to equal another cell on the sheet, but if that
cell is empty then I want it to read an alternate cell.

I presume you want like this.
If you have datas in columns A&B then
C1=if(A1="","",B1) "" means blank
