More problems with slide master

G

Gerry Wolff

Here's what I want to do (using PowerPoint 2007): I want to put a
footer on every slide (except the first one) containing specific text
formatted in a specific way.

If I follow the instructions for adding a footer, it tells me to do it
via the dialogue box on the Insert tab. This allows me to specify the
text in the footer but it does not allow me to specify the formatting.

So I go to the slide master and try to format the text there. But then
when I go back to Normal view, the formatting of the footer has not
come through to the slides.

Can anyone explain what to do?!

Try this:-

1. Start new Presentation.

2. Save it with file name.

3. Insert / Text group / click on Header & Footer

Header and Footer window should launch.

4. Click in the Footer box so that a tick (check) is placed in that
box.

5. Type in your footer details, for example:-

test test test

6. Click in the:-

Don’t show on title slide

- box so that a tick (check) is placed in that box.

7. Click on Apply to All

8. Insert 2 more slides to make sure the footer you have just added
appears correctly (it did when I have just run the above procedure).

Save the file again if required.

9. View tab / Presentation Views group / click on Slide Master

10. Click on the slide (thumbnail) in the very far top left hand
corner.

Once you have done this it should be highlighted in orange and should
have a white number 1 on the left hand side.

11. Now on the main slide click in the footer where you should test:-

test test test

(This is what I saw as I was testing this).

12. Highlight:-

test test test

13. Home tab / Font group / give it the formatting you require.

At this point I have it:-

Red colour / Times New Roman / with a Font Size of 14

14. Click out of the footer field.

Save the file at this point if required.

15. Click on the Normal button (lower part of your screen just to the
right of the middle).

16. If you now inspect you slides you will find that slides 2 and 3
(added at point number 8 above) have the required formatting.

If my comments have helped will you please, if possible, rate my
posting.

Thanks.

You may just need to reapply the layout by hitting the Reset button on the
Home tab.

Thank you, Steve! I was having major problems with the footers and powerpoint slide master. I even watched a MS webimar.... No help. If you have different headers/footers or have made changes and they do not show up in all your slides, just uncheck them, click apply to all, recheck them, hit apply to all and presto! Headache is gone. Yours, Ranyd
