Mouse click on cell does not make cell active

Jerry

Working in ExCel on new Macintosh iMac G5 computer, I suddenly lose
capability to make
cell active by clicking mouse on a cell. I can use arrow keys to move
cell to cell to enter data
but cannot make cell active for entry by moving mouse to it and
clicking. Need solution.

Hi Jerry,
Sounds like you turned sheet protection on and don't like the results.

Tools, protection, unprotect sheet

if instead you see "protect sheet" then that is not the problem.

I don't know about the Mac version, but you may have your drawing tool
active.

Check that your drawing toolbar is active (view->toolbars->drawing).
On the drawing toolbar, there is an icon that looks like an arrow. Try
clicking/unclicking it.

If it is clicked, then on my PC the cursor stays an arrow no matter
what I do on the spreadsheet and I see the behavior as you describe.
If it is not clicked, then my cursor changes to a "+" when over the
spreadsheet and an arrow when over something else like a toolbar.

That's the way it works on my PC at least. I am not sure about a Mac.
Personally, I can't see how you folks get along with only one mouse
button, but I guess you do OK.

Kudos!

Alex Brewer.
