I purchased a new laptop and want to transfer all of my e-mail messages and
folders to my new computer. How do I do this?

find your pst on the old computer and copy it to the new then set the new
profile to use it. if you are changing versions of outlook, let outlook
make a new pst and open the old one using file, open, outlook data file and
move the current items to the new pst - leave old stuff in the old pst and
keep it as an archive.
