move some contacts to another folder - how?

Outlook has no address book. The only place data is stored in Outlook is
Contacts Folders.
State your question clearly in light of that reality.

OK, I have some people in my contacts list that I don't email very
often
I would like to make a folder called 'seldom used' & move them to it
I can make the new folder, but can't figure out how to transfer these
seldom used contacts from one folder to the other.
Can you help please?

Just like moving anything else in Outlook. Create your folder, select the
contacts, right-click and drag. Select "Move"

Why can't you just move them as I suggested in the first place? Use
whichever method of Cut and Paste you're most familiar with. For example, if
you have Contacts in one Folder and want to move them to another just select
them in the originating folder, select Edit > Move to Folder, then select
the correct target folder.

Gordon & Russ
I can't or Outlook won't do what you suggest
When I select them in the originating folder, select Edit > Move to
Folder, then select the correct target folder, a new email window
opens ready to compose/send to the contact's address
Just like moving anything else in Outlook. Create your folder, select the contacts, right-click and drag. Select "Move"
I can't do this either, I think you need to start from basics here,
I'm getting nowwhere fast
Perhaps my contacts are in the wrong place/folder?
I have them in Address Book:Contacts

There is nothing more basic than what we've posted. This is a simple cut and
paste operation. We can't tell what you're doing wrong because we aren't
there. Provide precise descriptions if you need help in a news group. I can
only guess that you didn't create a Contacts Folder but rather a Message
folder instead.

When I upgraded to Outlook 2007 I just imported my 2003.pst file
So, they are where Outlook put them
I was hoping that this was a simple task, however, it's not really
that important. Everything is working fine as-is, so I won't bother
Sorry for the bother & thank you for your help

You are the one who said you knew how to create another Contacts Folder. It
appears you did not, but we can't help without knowing what you did.

It is a simple task, but when you created the folder you didn't select the
"Contacts" value in the "Folder contains" drop-down of the New Folder
dialogue. Therefore you created a mail folder not a contact folder.

Hi Brian
I think my problem is like Russ said
I don't seem to know how to create a folder !

When you use File > New > Folder that dialog box has a field where you
select what the folder type should be (i.e., what item types it will
contain). Make sure you select Contacts if you want the folder to contain
Contacts.

Thank you Russ for your perseverance
I have now got my new folder up-and-running & I was able to 'drag &
drop' my contacts as you described
I have also learned the proper way to create a folder
Thank you very much for your help
