Move to next record causes application error

Good morning,

I work in a database with another person. Unfortunately, when it was
originally created, it was not split into a front and back end. Now every
once in a while (this being one of those times) when I go into the database,
after the other person already has it open, and I try to go to the next
record in the database...the dialogue box that tells me Access has
encountered an error and the application must be closed immediately and do I
want to send my error to Microsoft and repair my database pops up. I can run
queries, reports, and open other forms within the same database - it's just
when I try to move to the next record in the main form!

Does anyone have any insight as to why this happens and how I might be able
to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It could be that the form is corrupt. Another possibility is that you have a
memo field in the table that's the record source for the form and it's data
is corrupt.

The operative word here is "corrupt". At times like this, nothing beats a
good backup. In fact make a complete backup of your database now and put it
away for safe keeping.

Tony Toews has an excellent web page on database corruption.

Allen Brown also has excellent info on corruption.

I have a white paper in a Word document named Fix Corrupt Access Database
towards the bottom this page:
