Movies play slow

Hi,

I have a presentation with a number of .avi movies. They play great in
WMP but when they are inserted into a slide they play painfully slow.
Any ideas why this happens? The OS is Windows XP SP2 with Office 2003.

One clarification: the OS is the Tablet Edition of Windows XP.
