Moving a line with text (does not work as expected)

To start, I'm running Word 2003 sp1 on XP OS.

I have positioned a line (graphic line) below a line of text, selected the
format autoshape option, selected 'In front of text' wrapping style, gone to
Advanced... and then 'checked' 'absolute position in both horizontal and
vertical' and also ' 'move object with text'

Put simply, it doesn't work!

I've checked the proceedure on another machine running Word 2000, it works
in the way I describe above.

Any ideas? It should really be quite simple -

One other observation, on selecting a position to create a graphic line, I
get the 'Put your drawing here' box, dont want it dont need it, can I prevent
it from happening?

For the second part,

Tools>Options>General and uncheck Automatically create drawing canvass
when inserting autoshapes.

For the first part, is sounds like that your graphic is not anchored to
the text.

Many thanks for the second part. On the first part though, the graphic is
anchored, however I have discovered that the resultant graphic movement is
only apparent if I change the 'zoom' factor i.e. 'redraw' the screen. So it
does work, although I have no idea why it waits for a redraw for the visual
effect to be seen!

once again thanks for your efforts
