Moving Excel Charts into Illustrator

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

Need to be able to move Excel charts into Illustrator. Could copy and paste them until version 2008 -- now when I paste, nothing happens. Is there a workaround, or do we switch to using Illustrator's charting tools?
