Moving from Access 2000 to 2003 and to real-time

We have a replica farm of 25 Access 2000 databases that are 715,236 KB each.
We will be installing Office/Access 2003 in the near future. We are also
thinking that we would like to make the replicas into a real-time database.
I can do that. Should we install 2003 on all of the computers, have them
open the replicas in 2003 and continue to synchronize normally, then move to
real-time later? Should I create an unreplicated database in 2000, then
simply open it with 2003, then split the database and make the front-end mde?
Or should I start with a new empty 2003 database, import the objects from
the 2000 database (unreplicate) into the new 2003 database, then split and
make the mde? Perhaps my first question should be: after we install 2003,
will we be able to open our replicas by simply clicking them open, or will we
need to use a database utility to convert to 2003?
