Moving the default pst file to another partition

Hi

I've just done a clean copy of WinXP & have changed the location of the
Documents & Setting folders, Program files & Program File\Local Settings
using winnt.sif with an unattended install off C to drive D. I then changed
most of the locations of my own account to a 3rd partition, including the
Application Data folder but not Local Settings which remains on drive D
(because it appears to contain a fragment of the registry hive).

I've installed OfficeXP but have not yet launched Outlook. I want to locate
my profile onto Drive E. I've moved the default location before in the past
but can't remember how I did it & that was after launching Outlook. I'll be
running it in standard pop3 mode without Exchange, so synchronisation isn't
an issue. How can I do this & are there any side effects? As a last resort,
I could try experimenting with Sysinternal's Junction utility which will
work with NTFS but would prefer to move the actual location rather than
having a hard link to it.

Thanks, Paul

Start and configure Outlook first. Then close Outlook and move your pst-file
to the new location. When you now start Outlook it will prompt you for the
new location.

Roady, thanks for the info - now done. A further question if I may: can the
default archive location for newly created folders be changed? I went to
Options & changed the location for archiving but new ones still default to
the original folder (before importing my old pst file). I had a quick poke
in the registry under Current User but couldn't find anything. If not, it's
no big deal to change them as they're created.
