Moving the x-axis

I've created graphs where the y-axis ranges from a
negative number through a positive number (zero is
approximately in the middle). The x-axis seems fixated on
intersecting the y-axis at the zero. How do I move the x-
axis so that it intersects the largest negative number
instead of the zero in between? Many thanks.
