Moving through a document

I am trying to wite a diasater plan for a company - I would like to have it
in one document with links to quickly move to the section that is relevant.
What I want is a hyperlink - but not sure if you can do that if it is not web
based. Have looked at cross reference but not sure if that is what I need.
The document needs to be very user friendly as it will be used by store
clerks with limited computer experience. HElp!

For jumps around with a document, use cross-references. You can set a
reference to any heading if you've used heading styles; or you can define a
bookmark for any range in the document and set a reference to that. (There
are other options. Explore the dialog.)

Thanks! I have not used cross references before but guess I need a crash
course in it. The main prioroty is that the finished document be VERY user
friendly. Also - can I jump to excel files also as some of the forms and
checklists may be created in Excel? I am thinking this should be put
together in a Master document which I have never used and have heard they are
pretty difficult to work in. ANy thoughts or good websites to help me with
this?

Cross-references can by hyperlinks (they are by default, in fact), and you
can also insert ordinary hyperlinks to external files (look at the Insert |
Hyperlink dialog).
