mp3 plugin won't play

Hello,

What can you do about the following problem: when inserting a sound file as
a plugin (webcomponent), there is no problem if the sound file is a
RealPlayer type, but if the sound is an mp3 file, the plugin won't play the
file in the browser. If you link to the mp3 file, everything's fine. One of
my students is having this problem, but I forgot to ask him which Frontpage
version he has at home. Would this make a difference?

Thanks for any hints,

Lenny

More likely, the difference would be whether or not he has RealPlayer
installed on his machine.

Have him change the default player to Media player
instead of RealPlayer.
Sounds like he using AOL, and the typical AOL install
makes RealPlayer the default.

Hi,

He isn't using AOL ... We live in Belgium. ;-)

So what you're saying is that when the default player is RealPlayer for
every sound type, the plugin (webcomponent) won't play the mp3?

Very possible.

Have him right click an mp3 file and then select "Open with"
In the panel that opens, scroll to media player click once and then
check the box "Always open with"
