MP3 problems...

I've got a presentation that I want to run off of cd. I've had problems
with the sound synchronizing from machine to machine, and decided to convert
to MP3 format to reduce the load on the system.

First...is this a viable option...it seems to work better on the XP system I
created it on, but my ME system machine comes up with an error... the dialog
box is titled MPEG 16, and the dialog comes up with something about MPEG
32..... ERROR. ( I don't have the actual dialog available at the moment)

My system plays mp3s ok, and has the "RealPlayer" player installed...

I checked the Win.ini.. and it looks ok per the tutorial I found referenced
elsewhere.

Is this a problem with my system or is it universal? I created the
presentation in XP and PPT 2003.

Bruce, it all depends on several factors including the OS, CD drive access
speed, video RAM, processor, etc. etc.

The problem is that you really don't have much control over all machines
where your distributed presentation could be played - the only way you can
be sure of resolving that problem is by using a lowest common factor - and
perhaps reducing the bitrate of your MP3 file?

Try to get the exact wording of that message and post it in a reply here. You
mention checking your win.ini settings, but more importantly, did you verify
that there has been no change to the system.ini file?

It says: Title: MPEG 16 Body: Create MPEG32 TASK_CMD is not successful.

Further, created in PPT 2003 and saved to 97-2000 format, when I go to open
the presentation up in the problem machine I get the same message.

In both cases the message comes up over and over again. I have to
alt-ctrl-del end task as PPT crashes.

Is this my presentation? I will try it on another ME machine to see if it
is .

Or is it my machine? How do I find out. Thanks!

By the way, I knew that error sounded familiar, but I just couldn't find a
reference to it in my brain's main memory. So I went to Google and pasted in
Create MPEG32 TASK_CMD and clicked on Search. Great, got a hit. Wait a
minute! That looks familiar! Yep, my own site. I mention this only because
Google is your friend and mine. You'd be amazed how many times the solution is
just sitting there waiting for you, or in my case, right in my lap. LOL!
