MP3 sounds & MPG videos do not play in slideshow mode

Re: PowerPoint 2002 on PC

This is probably a common question, but when I insert an MP3 sound it does not play in slideshow mode. This has worked in the past. I tried having the sound play automatically upon loading the slide, and by clicking on it. I made sure the file was saved immediately after inserting the file.

I opened mplay32.exe from the Run menu and was able to play the sound file fine.

I am also able to play WMV video files fine, but not MPG video files from the slide. The MPG video does play in Windows Media Player.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting? I'd love to be able to play these files seamlessly from the slide.

Thank you,

Is the MP3 saved in the same folder as the presentation? Was it there when you
inserted it in the presentation?

Do the MPGs play in mplay32.exe? What is the path length to the files? Are
they stored in My Documents? Have you checked the tips at

Sonia,

MP3 was saved in the same folder and did play in mplay32. It WAS in
Documents & Settings, then I moved it to the C:\ to shorten the path and it
worked!

Thanks so much.

I suspected that the path was too long. I'm glad it's working now.
