.MPD files Master Projects and Sub-Projects

This links to an earlier question I posted in the general section and here
might be a better location to ask.

Appreciate this is not a simple question and I am reminded of my mums view
when DIY is suggested....."Oh I think I'll get a man in.".....from this
you'll realise I'm no IT developer!!!

I am belatedly trying to keep track of a master project ( MP1) with a number
of inserted sub-projects. These are all saved in one .MPD file (file1.MPD) or
so I thought. In saving out the .MPD file to a new location (call it
file2.MPD) means;-
i) the master project in file2.MPD will refer to sub-project files in
file1.MPD.
ii) amending a subproject file in file2.MPD does not show in the master
project in file2.MPD

A recipe for problems I am sure you'll agree.

I am going through an excerise to tidy this all up but wanted to know if
there is away of avoiding this in the future? In terms of archive proceedures
especially.

I had hope I could simple amend the MSP_PROJECTS : Table field/
PROJ_DATA_SOURCE field in access but this isn't the one that shows the
Subproject File Field. This I found to be located in the MSP_TEXT_FIELDS :
Table TEXT VALUE. What does the first signify and why do they not correlate?

Manually you can open the master project, then double-click each sub-project
line, then in the Advanced tab edit the path. Is this what you want to do?

Thanks for repying
Thats what I am having to do.
I hoped there might be a less laborius way in access. as I would like to
move the file, and change its name and hoped it might be a simple cut and
paste to a column in an access table.

I am also interested inunderstanding what I get to see in access.....hence
the puzzle about the source file and the references in the master project.
