I use a PowerPoint presaentaion, about 45 slides for preshow entertainment
before a movie. I have tried downloading a public domain cartoon 76.5 MB in
MPEG. It will play perfectly for about 3/4 way through, then it throws back
to slide one and stops. A smaller 24 MB video seems to work OK. What is the
problem and how can I correct this? I would not prefer to I have set the
slide durration to match the length of the movie. I do not wish to do any
modifications to the file that would deprecioate the quality since it is
being shown on a 12 foot high screen.

You could start by seeing if it plays OK in MCI (this is a part of windows
used by powerpoint for video)

In start> run type mplay32.exe to start the player and then open your video.

Report back.

I played one of the movies in MCI and ran perfectly. At the beginning it said
that it was not the default player, I had Real Player, I since then took it
off. I then reinserted that video in PowerPoint and it plays, but a second
video which is a minute longer stops before it ends and sends the pwoerpoint
presentation back to the first slide.
Any thoughts?--

Real Player may (almost assuredly did) have altered the settings on your
machine. I would suggest downloading the latest version of Windows Media
Player and re-installing it.

Thanks for the info. I did go and download Windows Media Player 10 and
installed it. I then restarted the PowerPoint presentation and close to the
end of the shorter video it stopped and went back to slide one and frooze.
Earlier today that particular movie played all the way through. I have done
and a detect and repair to PowerPoint with no results. Now what?

Beginning to sound like there are other issues. Why don't you give PFCMedia
a try? It will convert the file into something more friendly to PowerPoint.
