mpeg1 and powerpoint 2000

Please help!

I have a presentation that is running on ppt 2000 and windows 2000 machine.
I can successfully import and play mpeg1 movies, (I set it to play
automatically) but here is the problem: When the movie ends, I cannot
advance to the next slide with the spacebar, enter key, or arrow key...the
only way to advance is to click on the mouse twice, then I can continue
advancing with the keyboard.

This presentation is to go out to some people who aren't too knowledgeable
about computers and this glitch might throw them off.
So far I tried these steps but could not get around the fact that you must
use the mouse to advance:

1. I tried making the slide advance automatically after 0:01 and this
advances the slide but you still have to click the mouse to continue to the
next bullet.

2.I did find a way to get around it: I made a fake button that asks them to
"double-click" to continue after each movie...but this is not very
professional looking.

Please help! The project must be done on Monday!!!

What else is on the slide with the MPG? It sounds like you have some objects
that are waiting for mouse clicks. You mention bullets. Do you have animated
text that is waiting for a click? If so, that is your problem. The slide
transition won't take place until all animations have completed. If you have
something waiting for a mouse click that is what the transition is waiting for.

The problem should be resolved if you update Direct X on your machine by
downloading from Microsoft. It's an issue with your machine rather than the
presentation.
