MPEG's trouble

I have WinXP with Office 2000. I insert an mpeg into a
slide presentation, but the slide will not play. Does
anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Where did the mpeg file come from e.g. what software

What does powerpoint do when you try to insert the mpeg..does it give an
error? or do nothing?

How are you inserting the mpeg..e.g. what menus in powerpoint
