I am trying to import a video clip into a slide. I have done so sucessfully with other clips, but one keeps giving me an error message: "Video not available, cannot find 'vids:mpg4' decompressor". This video clip plays by itself with Windows Media Player, so I don't understand what the problem is. Can anyone help?
The problem is that PPT doesn't use Windows Media Player, it uses the
MCI Media Player.

give you a better understanding.
If the extension of the video is AVI, try the workaround at the bottom
of this page:

Finally, you may need to convert the MPEG-4 to a different format. Back
in October, Adam Crowley said the following re MPEG 4:
*****
As MP4 is a Quicktime based file format Quicktime Pro should do the best
job
of converting it.
You may have Pro already, AVID being an Apple-friendly system ported to
the
PC.
To find out open the file in the Quicktime Player. If there's an Export
option under the File menu then you're laughing.
If not:

MPEG-1 is a more universal format. You might consider using it instead.
