Hi,

I have some maps that were saved in a file.mpt however,
when I try to use these maps with an export to excel, they
do know show up for me to select them. It is as if, since
they are not in my global, I can't select them. But, I
thought that the purpose of an .mpt file was to have
everything available (ie. all the views, tables, maps set
up)? Am I not using the template feature correctly?

Thanks,

Natalia

You are not using the system correctly. In order to be accessible during
the Import/Export process, Maps must be stored in your Global.mpt file, not
in a regular .mpt file. In fact, when you create a Map during the
Import/Export process and click the Save Map button, the Map is
automatically stored in your Global.mpt file for you. To correct your
problem, open each of your .mpt files that contain Maps and do the
following:

1. Click Tools - Organizer
2. Click the Maps tab
3. Select the Map on the right and click the Copy button
4. Click OK

Step #3 will copy the Map from your .mpt file to the Global.mpt file. Hope
this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thank you for the info. So, does this mean that if I
create an export map on a regular file and send it to
someone, they have to copy the map onto their global in
order to have it available when exporting the file?

Thanks,

Natalia

Yes, you are correct.
