My MRU list for some reason will not work after it reaches 9 documents. Any idea
how I might fix this problem

I assume you know that 9 files is the limit. Are you saying that it takes
the first 9 and then never updates? Have you been playing with TweakUI?

Gets to 9, then never updates after that. As far as TweakUI goes. I have not run
that in quite some time.

Perhaps someone else can suggest a solution. For starters, I'd advise
disabling the MRU list on the General tab of Tools | Options. This will
clear the list. Then reenable it and see if it works correctly. If not, you
may need to blow away the MRU key in the Registry (but others may have
better advice about that).

I have done the disable MRU under Tools | Options. It works when reactivated,
until it is filled it up, then quits. I would erase the Word MRU Key in the
Registry if I could find it.

Thanks Suzanne. I had already seen these. Unfortunately I did not read them
carefully. After re-reading them, I found
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289506/EN-US/ which is the installation and use
of Support.dot. Will see if that helps.

I would tell you where to find it if I knew! There's a KB article for Word
2003: "How to edit Windows registry to clear the list of most recently used
files in Office 2003" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=826208. For Word 2002, see "How to reset
user options and registry settings in Word 2002" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289294, which says that the key is in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Data.

I didn't mention that KBA because it would appear that the only MRU list it
deals with is the Font list one. I think you're going to have to edit the
Registry yourself!

Your correct, it did nothing. I did delete the registry key as referenced in
your earlier message. Touch wood the key was re created when I restarted Word,
and for now it seems to working as advertised. thanks for taking the time.
