MS Access 2003 - "This Database is in an Unexpected state

user has a database saved on his local c drive
when he tries to launch it he gets the following error message "This
Database is in an Unexpected state" also the file is 2gigs in size
Can the database be recovered are there certain size limitations for access
database?

2 GB is the max file size for a 2000 through 2003 database MDB file.

Make a copy and try to do a compact and repair of it. Just open Access and
compact and repair from there. Or download the Jetcomp.exe tools that can do
a better job.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new database and importing things from
the problem database.
