Does Microsoft use Front Page to Create their pages on the internet and if
not, why not?

I would assume FrontPage and / or Visual Studio. Visual Studio is an even more powerful program.

They use a variety of products, including FrontPage, Visual InterDev, Visual
Studio.Net, and (no doubt) others that I'm not aware of.

It's more likely a home-grown solution. Big companies have to use more
specialised systems for content management simply because of the volume they
deal with. Microsoft had over 250,000 documents on their site a few years
ago and adds to that number at a huge rate. They need a specialized solution
to handle the volume.

Hope this helps,

Sort of. I would recommend going on the Microsoft web site to learn more
about them. Why would you ask?

but probably not a rival product like DreamWeaver.

I wouldn't be surprised. Microsoft has 50,000 employees, and a good number
of them are programmers. They didn't start out working for Microsoft, and no
doubt many of them brought their own tools with them when they joined.

Microsoft programmers use whatever tools they feel thay need to use to get
the job done. No doubt most of these tools are from Microsoft (after all,
they don't cost them anything!). However, I am well aware that some of them
use tools from third-parties. In fact, Microsoft often ends up making some
of the third-party software available on their web site, when it doesn't
compete with theirs, such as the handy-dandy Calipers you can download. And
guess what their favorite Search Engine is? If you're guessing MSN, you're
wrong.

There is no such thing as a WYSIWYG HTML authoring program. It's not a
problem with the WYS part, it's a problem with the WYG part, since different
browsers will render the identical code in slightly (or even grossly)
different ways.

And by the way, I believe some of the pages on the Microsoft site have been
made with Dreamweaver (at least at one time they were).

I wouldn't be surprised, although I can't say.
