MS Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close Office 2003

In the past week, I have been getting random error messages when using both
MS Excel and Outlook in Office 2003 that say "MS Excel/Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close." It then prompts me to send the
usual error report but also has a check box to click if you want to restart
MS Excel or Outlook but if you do, it's a continuous unending cycle of the
program opening and then getting an error message and starting over
again....i've used detect and repair on both but have to ultimately first
restart my computer before it can work smoothly again. What's going on????
I can't find anything on the support sight.

When you see the 'do you want to send...' window there is an option to see
what data is being sent, viewing this will give some details of the err.
And if you select do not re start, then bring up Task Manager, and in
running processess check whether outlook.exe or excel.exe is still running,
if so hilight and end the process

Thanks! I will try that--have you heard of this happening to others? i'd
love to get at the root of the problem....not sure I'm going to know enough
to understand the error report.
