MS Groove Workspace Invitees

Hi, I'm a total newbie to Groove and so please bear with me. I installed the
product and created a new workspace. I then invited two people to join. One
of these seemed to just do so but the other one tells me in an email that he
has downloaded MS Groove and installed it but that the evaluation period runs
out in 30 days.

I thought that he could join my workspace without having to purchase Groove
himself; or have I got this horribly wrong?
