MS Office 2000 Professional

I need to reinstall my Microsoft Office 2000 office suite (virus ate
operating system, complete hard drive reboot needed) and no longer have the
25 letter authentification code to support the discs. Too many office
moves.

I have written to Microsoft repeatedly asking for a temporary code for a 6
year old product ... no answer.

I have found no on-line resource that will allow me to re-install.

Other than spending tall $$ on upgrading, does anyone have any alternatives?

*IF* you purchased Office separately (not preinstalled on a computer) and
can provide some sort of proof of that, Microsoft will still issue you a key
for that version (at least as of a few months ago). Can you provide that
proof and did you purchase it by itself?

Update on Microsoft ... still no on line response.

couldn't find friend with identical suite (good tip thanks)

however, called the 'live Microsoft person for $$' number, got a real person
on the third ring and explained situation ... they provided an
authentification key over the phone within 2 minutes ... all at no charge.
Impressive 'real person' service.
