MS Office 2007 Document Imaging problem

I run XP and Office 2007. When I try to save a scanned document as a TIFF, I
am getting an error message telling me that "the selected file is not a valid
Microsoft Office Document Imaging File". I have scanned it with the Imaging
program and have gone thru everything I can to see why it won't save. Have
tried Repair function, uninstall and reinstall and it might work a couple of
times but then I get the error message again.
Are there any suggestions to fix this?
