MS Office 2007 Installation and Activation

Hi,

I installed the MS Office 2007 from the CD I bought with my new laptop
without first uninstalling the trial version. I didn't do anything. I
automatically just installed the new version from my CD and activated
it. But now, when I try to get some templates and such from the MS
website, it says that my software is not genuine and so, I tried to
activate it all over again but then the product key is said to be
incorrect! I now realise I am supposed to uninstall the trial version.
But I have no idea how to proceed! If I uninstall MS Office, will it
not uninstally what I installed from the CD which is the full version?
Also, is it ok for me to uninstall MS Office 2007 altogether and
re-install it from the CD? I'm afraid it will only let me install once
on one computer or something. So I'm a bit hesitant to uninstall
anything! (I uninstalled something that came with my laptop and am
having trouble re-installing it.. It's not a MS software though) Will
really appreciate your help! I am having weird problems associated with
MS Office 2007. Whenever I try to open a file on my documents folder, it
always comes up with the pop-up that my file was not found! So I need to
go to MS Word or whatever and open from there. This is highly annoying!
So, yeah. I really wonder what I should do now!

Thanks!

Installing the full version with the Trial version on the box can certainly
cause problems. They both will share files and that can cause an issue with
activation etc..

It is a good idea to completely remove the trial version, and your full
version and then reinstall your full version.

If you are unable to remove them both from add/remove programs the following
KB article can help you manually remove both products.
