we have a new Dell laptop running Windows 7 and Office 2007. All of th
apps in Office work fine except Outlook. I attempted to open Outloo
for the first time and received the following message "The connection t
MS Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected t
complete this action."
I've seen several such instances on line in various forums but I've ye
to see someone post a fix

Sigh - are you using an Exchange server? If not, then why did you choose
that mail account type?

Control Panel->Mail Icon->Accounts->Change->remove Exchange. Okay out and
install your ISP account.

I've seen one suggestion to re-install Office 2007. What have you tried?

If that doesn't work, try posting to one of the Outlook forums, as this
group is focused on patching and update issues.
