MS Office 97 and Windows XP

Can anyone tell me if Office 97 will work on Windows XP??

I can not see buying a bloated newer version when 97 does all I want
it to. Basically all I do is write letter, memoes, etc for home use.
I am not a "power user" by no means. Hangs most of the extras in 97 I
have never used or tried other then the mail merge.

Mostly yes. There are three(?) common installation hiccups that
you might run into, but they've been discussed to death in this
forum and others, so you should be able to make it work. You
shouldn't use Outlook 97 with Windows XP, because this
combination has lots of problems.
