ms office outlook 2003 - no rules/wizard?

P

pipex

Hi,

I bought ms office outlook 2003 from someone on ebay.
It came in a cd sleeve with an original/valid (orange) product keyserial
number.
The cd comes with fancy ms hologram labelling on it - so i assume its
geniune.

on outlook express I could automate messages in my inbox with TOOLS >
MESSAGE RULES...

I should be able to do something similar with outlook 2003,
in the outlook help it says use TOOLS > RULES & MESSAGES option,
but it doesn't show?.

I've checked the DISABLED ITEMS option in the help section, it says no items
disabled?.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong, have I been sold pirate software which has
somehow ben disabled?

thanks

Is there a small arrow at the bottom of the menu to indicate it needs
expanded?

i've checked (all menus/options).
just read it may be something to do with not having microsoft exchange
server?

looks like i'll have to carry on using outlook express.

seems crazy that in this case oe is better than microsofts paid for version
if you don't have ms exhange server?.

thanks anyway

Just this past Wednesday I received my eBay purchased copy of Outlook 2003.
I installed it Friday night and have been enjoying a bit of a learning curve
but am now getting used to it.

The menu choice you're looking for is called "rules and alerts" from "Tools"
in the main menu bar.

When you installed Outlook the installation program should have offered you
the chance to import your OE address book and your OE message rules. If
this didn't happen or if you missed it, first try help and support and
search for "import message rules". If nothing else seems to work you may
want to uninstall then reinstall Outlook taking special note of the chances
to do the imports.

Hope this helps

1) Outlook is not a big brother to OE
2) Outlook has a rules wizard on the Tools menu for everyone - it's called
Rules and Alerts
3) Outlook needs Exchange server for Out of Office Assistant, not general
rules

Did you do a full install? Did you activate your copy? Did you call the
RULegit phone number to verify you to a real copy of Outlook? What is the
version # in help, about?

Uninstall won't bring up the import menu, but making a new profile in

Is your focus in a mail enabled folder when you look for this option?
