I have an issue with MS Office running very slow on certain
workstations. I have w2k as the os & office 2003. On certain pc's I
have an eventvwr full, in the application log looks like the
following. Has anyone come across this similar problem. Although this
is an msiinstaller error, it is not related to Terminal server
console.Thanks Richard.

I have been having these exact items appearing in the Application Event
viewer. Not on a Terminal Server machine. The user of the computer has
complained of other programs being very sluggish (specifically InDesign)
which led me to the discovery of the thousands of MsiInstaller event log
entries.

Has anyone heard of any solution to this?

I had the same problem with MSI running every time I started Outlook
2007, and event log messages like:

Detection of product '{91120000-0014-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}', feature
'OUTLOOKFiles', component '{FD7878D4-39CC-4BE5-91F6-330ED22AC5FD}'
failed. The resource 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pst\' does not exist.

To fix this, I installed subinacl from Microsoft (download from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
)

Opened a command window as administrator and ran the following
commands:

cd "\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"
subinacl.exe /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pst /grant=administrators=f
/grant=system=f /grant=Users=f
subinacl.exe /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pip /grant=administrators=f
/grant=system=f /grant=Users=f
subinacl.exe /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.File.msg
/grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f /grant=Users=f

and no more errors and no more installers popping up when I started
Outlook.
