MS Office Word 2003 - Open file dialog problem?

When opening a new file, and then navigating thru the catalogue takes
terrible long time.!!
The problem must be related to Word, because navigating the catalogues on my
disk works well, using other programs, like windows explorer.
Has anyone else experienced this problem????

I have installed office SP1, and the op.sys is Win XP Professional

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
