MS Office XP (Sent Items folder)

I am trying to view the emails that I have sent from MS office in the sent
items folder. However, I get an error message as follows:
Unable to display the folder, Microsoft Outlook could not access the
specified folder location. The folder no longer exists.

How do I fix this, so that I can view my sent items? I have already gone
into Tools\options\preferences\email\message handling\save copies of message
in sent items folder and this doesn't resolve the problem.
