MS OrgChart v2.00 -- is there a templates file format extension?

I know this is a long shot, but it's worth a try. In Excel, we can make
template files that don't get overwritten when used as all of you know. The
extension is XLT. For Wordperfect it is WPT and for Word it is DOT. Is
there such a thing for MS OrgChart? I'd like to create copies of some major
charts to use as templates in the future without worrying about forgetting
to rename. The so-called "templates" feature in OrgChart is nothing of the
kind, of course, it's more of an ability to choose a few minor options ahead
of time.

tia. Not holding out, but you never know. :eek:D

You may want to have a look at the 'Full Product' version at http://orgplus.com .

The long discontinued MS Orgchart subset, written when it was developed by 'Banner Blue Software' had far fewer features. Charts
can be saved and reopened as .OPX files. You can use Windows to set the properties of an .OPX file to 'read only' as a way to keep
from overwriting it accidentally rather than using 'Save As'.

I thought of doing that this morning before I posted this but at that moment
dismissed it. If OrgChart doesn't have an actual template file format vs
the regular OPX file format, then I guess it will be the best way to go.
I'll try it, at any rate after all.

I've been finding this old app quite handy over the last couple of days. It
occurred to me it might be a way to do a simple daily TO DO list and it's
turned out to work very well since I only needed something very light and
simple without going being too simple as in Notepad <g>.

I set up a "template" for Work and another for "Personal". I'll set
attributes of these to "Read Only". Not perfect, but it'll at least stop me
from overwriting the masters as easily <g>.

Thanks. :eek:D

Turns out that this works perfectly. Thanks for the tip. :eek:D
