MS Producer 2003 won't open file

I created a slide show in MS Producer 2003, went to open the file to add
recordings, but it won't open the file or any backup files. It just keeps
opening a "Browse for missing file" window. I've put a lot of hours into
this so I'm hoping someone can help me.

Additional info: When I go ahead in the "Browse for missing file" window
and find the file, it comes up with the message: "The file you selected has
an incorrect file name extension." But the file DOES have the correct
extension of .MSProducer.
