MS Project 2003 - Tracking project costs outside of MS Project

B

Bryan Reynolds

Hello,

I am trying to manage project costs (i.e. hardware, software, external
vendor invoices) within an Excel spreadsheet and then linking the 'total'
back to a task within the project plan. The CPI calculation for baseline vs.
actual is fine but, the SPI is off. When the actual cost shows a value, BCWP
shows $0.00 which throws the SPI off. I am using project server (with the
red, yellow, green) status indicators to show SPI and CPI. Is there any way
to include these costs and use SPI indicator accurately?

SPI >= .85 - Green
SPI between .70 and .849
SPI < .70 and >0

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Bryan,

For the BCWP being calculated, it needs 2 references:
- The baseline that you would have set: Tools / Tracking / Set Baseline
- The Status Date : Project / Project Information / status date : ...

Hope this helps,
