When you have the option: "Move end of completed parts after status
date back to status date" on and the project manager accepts updates
from his resources, it is rather common for resources to have more
hours assigned to them than their calendar allows for the status date.
Thankfully MS Project is smart enough to not mark that resource as
overallocated. [I assume because either this "overallocation" occurs
in the past or that all work for that date is complete.]
However, when working in another project, and the project mentioned
above is closed, that enterprise resource is marked as overallocated!
You could argue that this is not a real big problem -except now when I
look at my resources in the "resource usage" view, nearly all of my
resources are red and showing as overallocated. I have to manually
check each resource to see where the overallocation occurs to
determine if the over allocation is something I should be concerned
about.
This option seems like a great option, however I despise this side
effect. Does anyone know of a solution?
