MS Project file would not open

In a 10,000+ line Project 2003 SP2 file we're experiencing an error message
indication that the file can not be opened. Yesterday the file was a
read-only file withing MSP. After we saved the file using the General
Option, not to ask if it's a Read-Only file, it now dosent open at all.

After some thought based on yesterdays experience, we went into Windows
Explore and opened up the file properties and flagged the file as
"Read-Only". This allowed me to again open the file with no problem, except
for saving it as the same file name.

Believing that there is a possible file corruption, we are also saving the
file as a MPD (Microsoft Project Database) file format. Hopefully doing so
will allow the file to be opened in MSP then saved as a MPP file format.

Questions:
1. What can I do to fix our MPP file based on the error message.
2. Is there a better approach to that indicated above.

Thanks! MSP Angel

MSP Angel,
Your approach of saving as an MPD is a good one. However if that doesn't
work, go to our MVP website at, http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm,
and take a look at FAQ 43 - Handling project file corruption and/or
bloat.

Hope this helps.
