MS Project Viewer

K

Kev Phillips

I'm in a position where my colleagues and I produce alot
of MS Project files.

We need to send these to other colleagues for information
only. We do a similar task with Visio.

To keep costs down, we have been using the Microsoft
produced Visio Viewer. However MS have not produced one
for Project yet!?!

Does anyone know if this is in the pipeline and or how
long it is expected before one is released (even beta
version?)

Thanks, Kev

Hi Kev,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I don't know if a viewer is in the pipeline, but it's not for want of
asking! Have you seen FAQ Item: 16. Project Viewer?

In future, try posting on the project newsgroup, as this one is closing
down! Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project Newsgroups. FAQs, companion
products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web
address: http://www.mvps.org/project/.

Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at the FAQ items
you've highlighted.

I'll also post any new topics to the Project newsgroups.

Thanks once again.

Hi Kev

We have a viewer
www.afinion.com which is able to read the original mpp.
It's e.g. used by Daimler Chrysler world wide for all people not having MS
Project

I use an application from Afinion called "Project on Web Viewer"
(http://www.afinion.com/). This application works exteremely well for us as
we recieve MPP files quite often and need to view them and/or print them
out. However, we do not have the need to manipulate or create our own MPP
files so owning MS Project is not really necessary. Unlike other viewers,
Project on Web Viewer reads the native MPP file so there is no need for the
creator of the MPP file to convert it to another format. While it is not a
free viewer, Project on Web Viewer has met my needs quite well and is very
cost effective (it is better then shelling out the total cost of a full MS
Project license). I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps. Post
back if you have other questions.
