MS Upsizing Wizard Wont Transfer Data

E

Eric Olson

I have a fairly simple database that I am trying to migrate the backend to an
sql server.

I was able to upload the tables if I selected the option to create tables
only. If i didnt all of the tables were skipped.

Now that I created the tables, everytime I use the upsizing wizard, it skips
all tables and does not upload any data. Some of the tables on have 3
records and I added an index to all tables.

Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

Also, I heard you can use DTS to transfer data, but I cant seem to find out
where to download it. I think it is embedded in another MS program. Are
there any other data transfer options?

I wound up having to use DTS as well. You might re-check your permissions
within SQL and give the upsizing wizard another try. I was able to get the
upsizing wizard to create my data correctly only once and it was in my early
test.

DTS is located in SQL's enterprize manager. If you already have the database
created, right click on the database and choose All Tasks from the drop down
menu. On the next menu choose Import Data.... This is DTS.

Some heads up though. While DTS is much easier to import tables with, it can
get cranky about dates and times amoung other things. Of my 75-ish tables, 4
are still hanging in my old Access backend. Eventually I will find someone
to re-enter the data :D

In the beginning of the upsizing report you see a list of all the tables
that were not transferred with some cryptic message. If you look further
into the report a more complete message appears with the details for that
table.
