MS Word 2000 doc crashing Word program

I am using MW Word 2000 with all updates installed.

I have a document I need to recover.

About 484k in size..&...very important.

When I open the document I get the error box---"A table in this
document has become corrupted. To recover the contents fo the table
select the table & choose covert table to text from table menu"

When I click on "OK" in the error box--the document fully opens and
then the "Report to Microsoft..." box appears and after I click "don't
send" or "send" ---MS Word shuts down.

How can I open this document? The tables aren't important...I need the
text. Also I use a password to open the document.
I read the fix for this on Microsofts site and it said to install all
Office updates......but I already have them.

Hope someone can help me.

Did you try sending the error report to see if it will continue to work in
progress? Have you encountered this problem opening Word normally, meaning,
just open a blank document?

No......sending the error report shuts it down.
And it is only with this one document----microsoft says to use Office
XP to open but I just have Word 2000 now.
