MS Word 2000

When I open a Word document and make no changes and go to
close the document Word is always asking me to Save the
document even when no changes were made.

Please help as this is frustrating

If this were Word 2002, I'd say it was smart tags. In Word 2000, it must be
fields updating. If you have printed or switched to Print Preview, this is
very likely the case. Is the Undo button enabled? If so, click the arrow
beside it and see if the Undo list shows "Update Fields." If so, then that's
the culprit. It's safe to say no to the Save prompt, though I agree it's
annoying.
