MS WORD 2003, Auto date function

Hi,

Recently the insert date function (when i check the automatically
update field) inserts a function or code, but it does not work.

any suggestions?

"What" does not work? Just a guess but maybe you have toggled "Show
field codes" turned on? (found in Tools, Options, View)

it doesn't show the date, only the code.
