Using the MS XP operating system with MS word 2003, and after installing update KB83000, I find that word continues to hang just while typing. Word becomes totally unresponsive to keyboard and mouse. Task manager reports word is an unresponsive application.
Another post mentioned a lack of disk space as a possible cause. I have 3.6GB free on the C drive, 8GB free on D. I have 1GB RAM.
Total paging file size is 1.5GB on C.
That would indicate over 2GB still free on C..
Questions are
1) Do I need more space yet that that? Will moving paging file to D: solve the problem?
2) Does Word 2002 have this saving problem? I have tried to switch back but get the error "There are no character files installed. Please run the MS office assistant in maintenance mode to install one". I looked in MS word help for definition of character file but did not find helpful information. Should I just use MS word 2002 until there is a solid fix for MS word 2003? Trying to write thesis, keep loosing it in MS word 2003. Please help.
