Ms Word freezes after INSERT PICTURE FROM FILE?

I don't know what is the source of this problem.
I have Ms Office 2002 and WIN XP SP2.

When I am using MS WORD AND EXCEL and when I try to start option
INSERT PICTURE FROM FILE the applications just freeze when they try to
surf inside the folders.

It is happeing with Word and Excel too.

I have make little search on Google and I have seen that it is more or
a less common problem sometimes because there is so many questions
about it on the Google groups archive.

But it seems that noone has been able to find the right source of the
problem.

I have tried with the detect and repair to fix this but the problems
still stays.

Any suggestions or similar experiences from someone?

I am researching the problem.

I have two hard drives. The system hard drive with two partitions C
and D and the other hard drive which is G.

I have noticed that it only happens when I try to INSERT PICTURE FROM
FILE from G drive. After I try to browse in folders the word frezzes.

When I try to browse the same folders (with the same name) which are
on C or D, everything works fine.

Now I am confused.

I have found one google groups post that deals with the same issue but
also there is no source of the problem.

I have found the solution. It is not connected with the Ms Office but
with the browsing in THUMBNAIL VIEW in any software. Now it works.

I was having the same problem - found this solution further down the line -
it worked for me! I downloaded the .reg file. Changing the regedit didn't
work, but the file did.

Now may not be the time to learn Regedit.
I suggest you use a .reg file already done for the purpose.

Unzip it, extract the .reg file to a folder, right-click it and select
Merge and confirm when asked.
