MS Word paragraph styles --- NEED Help!!!

Hello MS Word Experts!!

Can MS Word 2003 read a .txt file that has the paragraph style
emdedded on the same line as the text and then apply the style to the
text?

-- Due to security constraints, I can no longer support "rtf" exports.

I use a tool that creates a MS Word document via an export. Up until
recently, I was able to export to .rtf format. Now, my only option is
export to .txt.

The MS Word doc is loaded with "styles" and b/c of my new constraint,
it will be VERY time consuming to reformat the document. After
further examinination of the tool; I do have the capability to export
the "paragraph style along with the text" for each line in the
document.

My question is simple: Does MS Word have a way to read a paragraph
style and apply it to text. Basically, I suspect it would look
something like this when I export to "text":

** text file contents ***
<Heading 1> The Story
<Normal Text> This is a story of a little girl named Red Riding Hood...
She went to visit her grand mother one day...

I need to find a way for MS Word to read the text file and format the
"text" based upon the paragraph styles.

Is this even possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
