when word is heavily loaded with graphics it becomes very difficult to open
the file and at times file gets corrupted.
what is the alternate software to use in order to avoid this?

Once again, FrontPage is for building web sites, not Word. If you are
having Word problems, post in a Word newsgroup.

Frontpage is for creating websites - don't use it as a Word processor
because it doesn't work like that. It is simply a graphical interface to
design and layout a web page.

MS Word is a word processor (like a typewriter) for typing documents, but it
may not be the best for complex publications; you might want to try MS
Publisher (desktop publishing program).

In any case none of the above are going to open any faster than the other if
the document is heavy with diagrams, pictures, photos etc.

It is necessary to choose the right tool for the task.
